The nucleus of the band that is now Cutters Law grew from a bunch of us would-be guitarists (Glenn, Steve, Terry, Andy, Simon, Daz, Stewart, Drew, Hayden plus a few others that I forget) all at various times getting together and making a racket, jamming about in a number of places from about 1997 through to 1999 or so. There was no way it was going to turn into a band way back then, we had no drummer, no bass, no vocals and really no idea. Plus we had all kinds of other commitments etc... Anyway various things happened and it almost completely evaporated, but the occasional jam continued with a few of us.

Then in autumn 2002, Steve, Andy, Phil (bass) and Pete (drums) started jamming regularly at Hartford college near Northwich in Cheshire. Glenn joined in, in spring 2003 and having sung backing vocals with Red Moon, decided to have a go at doing some lead vocals with these Hartford Jammers. This meant we had to actually do a few numbers instead of endless jamming.

Well, in the September, due to a change in policy at the college, we had to find somewhere else to jam, and we moved to a children's nursery (Bunnies), which of course was empty in the evenings. This then turned into a regular weekly thing and we started to put together a few tunes. Also, Terry joined us again.

Pete came along one week in the December and asked us if we wanted to put on a gig to support the Christie Hospital in January 2004. Well, after literally a couple of minutes of discussion, we all agreed to give it a go, but of course needed to have a name for what had suddenly become a band.

Meanwhile, in early January 2004, Red Moon finally ran aground on the rocky shore of discontent (again), with a fair bit of bad feeling all around (at the time) and it looked they had finally 'flat-lined'. Out of this thought came the name for our new band 'Flatliner'..

And there it was, unknown to us 'Cutters Law' had been born...
